Man United to Sign Matheus Cunha for £62.5M

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the club prepared to activate his £62.5 million release clause.
According to Mail Sport, initial talks began in April, and United have since made significant progress in securing the 25-year-old’s signature.
Brazilian outlet UOL now reports that Cunha is on the verge of finalizing his contract with United, as the club maintains enough financial flexibility to accommodate the high-profile move ahead of the summer transfer window.
Cunha, who joined Wolves from Atlético Madrid in 2022 for around £34 million, has impressed in the Premier League.
He has tallied 27 goals and 13 assists across 63 appearances, drawing attention from top clubs with his dynamic play and versatility in the final third.
When asked about Cunha’s future last month, Wolves manager Rúben Amorim declined to comment, stating:
“I will not say anything about Matheus, because if I say one time, I will have to say for every situation whether it’s yes or no. It’s hard to predict what is going to happen in the future.”
United’s pursuit of Cunha signals the club’s intent to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for a crucial summer rebuild.
