Bellingham Out Early Next Season After Shoulder Surgery

Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham is set to undergo shoulder surgery after the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, ruling him out for at least the first six weeks of the 2025–26 season.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been battling a recurring shoulder issue since late 2023, frequently seen wearing strapping during matches for both club and country.
The injury originally flared up in a La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano and sidelined him for several matches last year.
Real Madrid have scheduled his surgery to take place after the expanded 32-team Club World Cup, which runs from June 15 to July 13 in the United States.
As a result, Bellingham will miss all of pre-season and a portion of the new campaign, including England’s September World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.
Despite the setback, Bellingham has had an impressive start to life in Spain since his £115 million move from Borussia Dortmund.
In his debut season, he played a pivotal role in helping Madrid lift both the La Liga and Champions League titles, finishing with 23 goals in 43 appearances.
However, his second season has been more challenging—scoring 14 times in 52 matches—as Real lost the domestic title to Barcelona and exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals at the hands of Arsenal.
England manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to announce his squad for June’s international fixtures against Andorra and Senegal on Friday, though it’s unclear whether players involved in the Club World Cup, like Bellingham, will be called up.
