NBC Anchor Sheinelle Jones’ Husband Uche Ojeh Dies at 45

NBC Today show co-anchor Sheinelle Jones is grieving the tragic loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh, who died at 45 following a brave battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The heartbreaking news was announced during Friday’s Today broadcast, with co-host Savannah Guthrie paying tribute on-air.
“There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and her three young children,” Guthrie said. “Uche was an incredible person… Sheinelle’s perfect partner in life.”
Ojeh, a respected consultant with UAO Consulting, had been married to Jones since 2007.
Their relationship began when they met at Northwestern University, where Sheinelle was a freshman tour guide and Uche, a visiting high school senior.
That fateful meeting sparked a love story that lasted nearly 20 years, culminating in a family with three children.
Jones had taken a leave of absence from Today in December, later revealing it was due to a private family health issue—now understood to be Uche’s illness.
On the show, colleague Craig Melvin shared fond memories of Uche, calling him a “devoted, hands-on father” who never missed a recital, soccer match, or school event.
“He loved those kids more than anything,” Melvin said. “He was always there, cheering on the sidelines.”
A member of the Today team since 2014 and a co-host of its third hour since 2019, Jones is now surrounded by love and support from her NBC family as she navigates this profound loss.
Uche Ojeh is remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, quiet strength, and the deep love he shared with Sheinelle and their children.
