Amorim Promises Apology to Man Utd Fans for Disappointing Season

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed he will deliver a heartfelt apology to fans at Old Trafford following the club’s final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa.
United’s turbulent season will end on Sunday against Unai Emery’s top-four-chasing Villa side, capping off one of the club’s most disappointing campaigns in decades.
Their hopes of Champions League qualification were crushed after a Europa League final loss to Tottenham in Bilbao, and they’re set to miss out on European football altogether for just the second time since 1990 — the worst outcome since their 1973–74 relegation season.
Despite the frustration and anger among supporters, particularly over the Glazer family’s ownership and recent job cuts introduced by minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Amorim is adamant that the team must still show gratitude to fans with the customary lap of appreciation.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Amorim acknowledged the gravity of the situation: “It will be an apology — that much is clear.
I won’t have time for a full explanation, but I’ll speak honestly, from both my head and my heart.”
Though he hasn’t finalized his message, the 40-year-old Portuguese coach said he understands the importance of addressing supporters directly, especially given the backdrop of fan unrest and another planned protest march to the stadium.
“It’s tradition, and avoiding it would be a huge mistake,” Amorim said. “The fans deserve to hear from me, especially after a season like this.
I’ll decide tomorrow exactly what to say, but I know this is the moment we must show humility and accountability.”
Despite the setbacks, many within the club still believe Amorim is the right figure to lead a future revival.
