Salah Named Premier League Player of the Season

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Premier League Player of the Season for 2024/25, marking the second time the Egyptian international has earned the prestigious honour. His first came during the 2017/18 campaign.
The award, which combines votes from fans and a panel of football experts, recognised Salah’s exceptional performances throughout the season, where he played a pivotal role in leading Liverpool to the Premier League title.
The 32-year-old saw off strong competition from team-mates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, Arsenal duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Declan Rice, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood.
This marks the first time since the 2018/19 season that a player from Manchester City has not claimed the award.
Heading into the final fixture of the season against Crystal Palace, Salah boasts an impressive 28 league goals — five more than any other player — and 18 assists, just two shy of the all-time record of 20 held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
In addition to his domestic accolades, Salah became the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history this season, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s tally of 184 goals.
He also committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new two-year contract extension, keeping him at Anfield until 2027.
Earlier in May, Salah was also honoured as the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year for the third time, receiving over 90% of the votes.
