The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old woman, Rabi’a Labaran, for allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, to death during a domestic dispute in Daura Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Sunday, May 25, by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the tragic incident occurred late on May 24 behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura.
The victim’s husband, Nasir Yusuf, returned home around 11 p.m. to find his first wife, Zainab, 30, lying in a pool of blood after being stabbed multiple times.
Police officers responded swiftly, and the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Daura, where doctors confirmed her dead.
During the investigation, Rabi’a Labaran was identified as the prime suspect and was arrested at the scene.

She later confessed to committing the act, stating that a dispute between them escalated into a physical altercation that ended fatally.
The police have launched a full investigation into the matter.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has condemned the incident and urged the public to avoid domestic violence and resolve conflicts through lawful means rather than resorting to violence, which only deepens societal harm and disrupts justice.
