Man Shot by Robbers for Having No Valuables

A man was shot by armed robbers after informing them he had no valuables, while returning home from a wedding in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The incident occurred in a remote area of Ndwedwe on Sunday night, May 25, 2025, but the victim wasn’t discovered until the following day.
A passerby found him lying in a field around 12 hours after the shooting and immediately contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for emergency assistance.
The caller informed RUSA that the location was extremely isolated and the victim could not be moved to a medical facility without help.
At approximately 11:37 a.m. on Monday, RUSA paramedics and officers were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the wounded man recounted that he had been crossing the field after attending a wedding when two unknown men approached him. One suspect brandished a firearm and demanded his belongings.

When the man told them he had nothing valuable, one of the robbers shot him in the right knee.
Unable to move due to his injury, he remained in the field overnight, exposed to the elements, until he was found the next morning.
RUSA medics stabilized him at the scene before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment.
The suspects fled the scene and remain at large.
