Investor Urges Nigerian Men to Date Foreign Women for Character Growth

Nigerian investor and social commentator, Morris Monye, has sparked online discussion after offering a controversial piece of advice to Nigerian men: date foreign women.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Monye stated that engaging in relationships with women from different cultural backgrounds could help foster personal growth and maturity among Nigerian men.

According to him, foreign women are less likely to tolerate certain behaviors that many Nigerian men often exhibit in their relationships with local women—behaviors that are sometimes overlooked or normalized within local contexts.

“I encourage our men to date foreign women,” Monye wrote. “The things we Nigerian men take for granted here and do to our women, they won’t take it. Good for character development.”

His remarks have since stirred mixed reactions across social media, with some agreeing that exposure to different cultural expectations can positively influence personal development, while others criticized the suggestion as dismissive of Nigerian women and overly idealistic.
