Speed Darlington Apologises After Viral Clip of 15-Year-Old Claim: “I’m an Artist, We Need Controversy”

Following widespread outrage over a viral video where he claimed to have slept with a 15-year-old virgin in a hotel, controversial Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has issued an apology to his fanbase.
In a new video posted on his social media, Speed Darlington explained his actions by stating that, as an artist, controversy is a tool he uses for promotion and visibility.
He specifically mentioned the release of a new song that he aims to promote. According to him, his remarks about sexual encounters were intended to generate buzz and attention for his new music.
He then directly addressed his fans, apologizing to those who were offended by his earlier statements.
Speed Darlington stated: “To all my followers who are upset about the video I made where I talked about sleeping with a 15-year-old, I am an artist.
I need controversy to make a living. If you’re not trending, you don’t get booked. It’s that simple! No one books something that isn’t getting attention.”
He continued, referencing his new track: “I have a new song out now.
The song is about ‘f this, f that.’ This is my artistic style. I don’t make Christian music. When I release a song, I need sexually suggestive content to promote it.
That’s what I was doing. Please don’t take it more seriously than it is.”
Concluding his statement, he said: “If any of you are offended, that’s understandable.
I apologize.”
This statement indicates that Speed Darlington attributes his controversial remarks to a deliberate strategy to generate publicity for his latest musical release and offers an apology to those who were upset by his initial video.
