AC Milan Sack Conceicao After Six Months

AC Milan have parted ways with head coach Sergio Conceição after just six months at the helm, following a disappointing end to the 2024/25 season.
The 50-year-old Portuguese manager was appointed in December after the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca, signing an 18-month contract.
Conceição made an immediate impact by winning the Italian Super Cup only a week into the role, marking the club’s 50th major trophy. However, that early promise faded quickly.
Milan’s form deteriorated in both domestic and European competitions. They were defeated by Bologna in the Coppa Italia final and slumped to an eighth-place finish in Serie A — a result that means the club will not feature in any European competition next season.
Meanwhile, fierce rivals Inter Milan are preparing to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, adding further pressure to the club’s decision.
In a brief statement, AC Milan confirmed the coach’s departure:
“AC Milan and Sergio Conceição will not continue their journey together next season. The Club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism, and dedication during their time leading the First Team. We wish him the best for the future.”
Speculation has already turned to Conceição’s replacement, with multiple reports in Italy suggesting Massimiliano Allegri is set to return to San Siro.
The 57-year-old previously managed Milan between 2010 and 2014, guiding them to the Serie A title in the 2010–11 season.
Allegri, who also enjoyed a successful spell at Juventus with five league titles, has been without a club since parting ways with the Turin giants at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano earlier confirmed that Allegri has agreed to rejoin Milan, with an official announcement expected soon.
