Fubara: Tinubu Averted Crisis, Saved Rivers with Timely Intervention

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his decisive intervention in the state’s political crisis, which he credited with averting a potential breakdown of governance.
According to Fubara, Tinubu’s timely implementation of emergency measures played a crucial role in maintaining stability and allowing both himself and his deputy to remain in their respective offices.
Fubara made the remarks during a gathering on May 29 organized by his supporters under the Simplified Movement at their secretariat in Port Harcourt.
Addressing the crowd, he emphasized that the President’s involvement was instrumental in preventing further deterioration of the situation.
“I want to assure you all that this crisis will be resolved,” Fubara said. “By the special grace of God, we will return to our positions—not just in the executive arm, but in the legislature as well. I believe that the camaraderie we once shared—working, dining, and laughing together—will return.”
He continued, “Mr. President deserves our deepest gratitude. Without his intervention, the unrest could have escalated beyond control.
Protests alone wouldn’t have fixed the problem, but his timely mediation saved the state from a far worse scenario.”
Fubara also took a moment to thank his loyal supporters and Nigerians at large for their steadfast prayers and encouragement during the crisis.
He acknowledged that while protests have their place, resolving complex political challenges often requires more strategic and diplomatic approaches.
In a reconciliatory tone, the suspended governor apologized to anyone who might have felt let down by his actions during the turmoil, clarifying that his choices were made with the peace and stability of Rivers State in mind.
“I seek forgiveness from anyone who may have felt disappointed. I acted with the best interests of our state at heart,” he said.
Fubara concluded with a hopeful message, stressing his commitment to lasting peace.
Referring to his political rival and predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, he said: “There’s no reason why peace shouldn’t exist between me and my oga.”
