Two Arrested in Kano with Alleged Fake $899,800

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into two men found in possession of $899,800 in counterfeit U.S. currency.
The suspects, identified as 42-year-old Abubakar Hussaini and 53-year-old Sahabi Adamu, were initially intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) along Maiduguri Road in Wudil, Kano State.

They were reportedly traveling in a commercial Golf 3 Station Wagon on their way to Kila Village in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
During a routine search, NDLEA officers discovered the fake dollar bills hidden inside a carton labeled as Maggi Star seasoning.
The suspects, along with the counterfeit currency, were handed over to the EFCC for further investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the duo was en route to meet a man named Muhammad Walo, who had promised to connect them with a self-styled spiritualist, Mallam Mashiru.
Mashiru allegedly claimed he could perform ritual prayers to “convert” the fake dollars into genuine currency.
The EFCC said the suspects will be formally charged in court once investigations are concluded.
