Suspected Job Scammer Surrenders to EFCC

A surprising incident unfolded at the Gombe Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, June 2, 2025, when a middle-aged man voluntarily surrendered himself for fraud-related offences.
The suspect, identified as Idris Adamu, walked into the EFCC premises around 1 p.m. and requested an audience with the Acting Zonal Director, Deputy Commander of the EFCC (DCE), Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad.
Adamu explained that he wished to confess to crimes he had committed in the past, driven by a desire to come clean and his growing fear of the Commission’s reach.
While in the director’s office, Adamu said:
“I came to repent and confess my sins to the EFCC. In the past, I fraudulently obtained a total of N9 million through my bank account from various individuals, deceiving them with false promises of employment in federal government agencies. I have changed, but I’m scared of the EFCC.”
Moved by the admission, DCE Sa’ad commended the suspect for voluntarily presenting himself and speaking up.
He then ordered that Adamu be handed over to the EFCC’s investigation department for a comprehensive probe into his claims and any additional criminal activity.
