Hajj 2025: Plateau Woman Dies in Makkah

A female pilgrim from Plateau State, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, has sadly passed away while participating in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and Amirul Hajj, Daiyabu Dauda, announced her death in a statement on Monday night, June 2.
According to Dauda, the pilgrim died at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah due to complications related to diabetes, as confirmed by medical personnel.
He noted that upon receiving information about her deteriorating health, he immediately instructed the medical team to provide her with urgent care in accordance with the directives of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
Unfortunately, all efforts to save her life were unsuccessful.
Her funeral prayers were held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and were attended by officials of the pilgrims board, fellow pilgrims, and her relatives. She was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
Dauda expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the government and people of Plateau State, as well as to the family and friends of the deceased.
Quoting from the Quran (4:100), he reminded all of the divine reward for those who pass away while on a journey in service to Allah.
“With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Allah, Plateau State has lost one of its dedicated pilgrims,” the statement read. “May Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.”
