TikTok Star Fatally Shot After Posting 17th Birthday Video

Pakistani TikTok star Sana Yousaf was tragically shot and killed at her home in Islamabad on Monday, June 2—just hours after sharing a video celebrating her 17th birthday.
The viral video, posted on both TikTok and Instagram, showed Sana laughing, cutting a cake, and dining with friends. She was radiant, dressed in a brown skirt and shirt, unaware of the looming danger.

According to Islamabad police, 22-year-old Umar Hayat had become obsessed with Sana after she repeatedly rejected his advances.
“It was a case of repeated rejections,” said Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi during a press briefing.
“He tried several times to reach her and was even present at her birthday celebration on May 29.”
On the day of the murder, Umar reportedly loitered outside Sana’s home for hours, attempting to contact her.
When those efforts failed yet again, he forcibly entered the residence and shot her in front of her mother.
The horrifying act has sent shockwaves across Pakistan and the global online community.
Umar Hayat fled to Faisalabad—over 300 km from Islamabad—but was later tracked down and arrested.
Authorities described the murder as “gruesome and cold-blooded,” fueled by rejection and obsession.
Sana had more than a million followers across TikTok and Instagram, where she was admired for her cheerful personality and relatable content.
Her final birthday post has since become a digital memorial, flooded with sorrowful messages from stunned fans.
The influencer community has also joined in mourning her death. Pakistani influencer Waliya Najib wrote, “This doesn’t feel real. You were glowing, just being 17. I’m so sorry this world didn’t protect you. Rest in peace, sweetheart.”
UK-based content creator Kashaf Ali echoed the grief, saying, “This is so awful. A literal 17-year-old with so much innocence, killed for what?”
Sana’s tragic end has reignited national conversations in Pakistan about gender-based violence, online harassment, and the urgent need for better protection for young women in the public eye.
