Falz: Fornication Isn’t a Sin in My Religion

Falz Clarifies Fornication Remark, Says He Follows the ‘Religion of Love’
Nigerian rapper and singer Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent statement that “fornication isn’t a sin,” explaining that his views are rooted in a personal belief system he describes as the “religion of love.”
The award-winning artist made the clarification during an interview with Arise TV after facing widespread backlash over his post on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, Falz simply declared:
“Fornication isn’t a sin.”
The post quickly went viral and attracted criticism from both Christian and Muslim users, many of whom cited religious scriptures to dispute his claim.
However, Falz has now explained that his statement was not made within the context of traditional religious doctrine.
“I think people would read the tweet and just assume I meant according to Christianity,” he said during the interview.
“I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin.”
The rapper also questioned societal norms that label premarital sex as morally wrong, particularly when it involves two consenting adults.
“These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there,” he added.
Falz’s remarks have reignited debates around morality, religious interpretation, and personal freedom, drawing both support and criticism across various social media platforms.
While some applauded his honesty and progressive stance, others accused him of promoting immorality and disregarding faith-based values.
