Neymar Tests Positive for COVID-19 Again

Brazilian footballer Neymar has once again tested positive for COVID-19, his club Santos FC confirmed in an official statement.
The 33-year-old forward began experiencing symptoms on Thursday, June 5, and subsequent medical tests confirmed the infection.
“Neymar Jr. presented with viral symptoms on Thursday and was immediately assessed by the Santos FC Medical Department. Lab results confirmed a COVID-19 infection,” the club stated.
“He has been withdrawn from all team activities and is currently resting at home, receiving symptomatic treatment under medical supervision.”
This marks the second time Neymar has contracted the virus. He previously tested positive in May 2021 during his tenure with Paris Saint-Germain and spent four months in recovery before making a return to the pitch.
Since his departure from PSG in 2023, Neymar has been trying to regain form with his boyhood club, Santos.
Despite holding the record as Brazil’s all-time leading goal scorer with 79 goals, he has not played for the national team since October 2023, when he suffered an injury during a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.
The former Barcelona star also missed Copa America 2024 and was notably left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for Brazil’s current World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Neymar’s condition is being closely monitored, and updates on his recovery are expected in the coming days.
