Cop Rebukes Fan for Rushing Lionel Messi

A young fan who was physically restrained by security after rushing Lionel Messi last month also faced a stern reprimand from police officers.
When officers arrived at the scene, one questioned why the 18-year-old, Ramsey Khatri, would attempt to get so close to the soccer superstar in the first place. Then, he scolded Khatri for calling 911 afterward to complain about how security handled him.

“Brother,” the officer said, “you ran after Messi, this happens to you, and you call the police? Come on, man.”
Khatri tried to explain that his actions came from pure admiration for Messi and that he never expected anything bad to happen.
However, the officer wasn’t convinced, replying, “Come on, man. You knew, man. You see videos online. You’re a fan, bro. You know how it goes.”

Body camera footage from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, obtained recently, shows the encounter shortly after Khatri was removed from Inter Miami Stadium on May 25 during a youth soccer event where Messi was present.
Khatri was banned from the stadium due to the incident and lamented that he couldn’t retrieve his hat and glasses lost during the scuffle. He also mentioned some wrist and neck pain but declined medical treatment.
In the end, the police officer released Khatri with only a warning and said the stadium security would handle any further action.
