Abuja CP orders arrest of woman accused of abusing her maid

Urgent Action in Abuja: Police Ordered to Arrest Woman for Abusing, Starving 14-Year-Old
The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adewale Ajao, has issued an immediate order for the arrest of a woman accused of severely abusing and starving a 14-year-old girl in Abuja.

This directive follows the widespread circulation of a disturbing video that brought the young girl’s horrific ordeal to light.
The victim, identified as Bashariya, shared her harrowing story in Hausa in the viral video.
Originally from Zamfara State, Bashariya explained that she was brought to Abuja after her parents were forced to flee their home due to bandit attacks, seeking refuge in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in the Gwiwa Eka area.
Bashariya recounted that she was hired as a maid and brought to Abuja under the false promise of a better life.
Instead, she alleges that her guardian subjected her to starvation, repeated beatings, and even burning.
The distressing video prominently displayed burn marks, along with fresh and old bruises, covering her entire body, serving as undeniable evidence of the prolonged abuse she endured.
SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that Commissioner Ajao acted swiftly upon viewing the deeply concerning video.
She stated that Divisional Police Officers throughout the FCT have been instructed to urgently locate and apprehend the woman responsible for these heinous acts of cruelty.
