Johansson Asked to Be Uncredited in Thunderbolts

Scarlett Johansson has revealed that she requested her name be removed from the upcoming Marvel Phase 5 film Thunderbolts, clarifying that she had no involvement in the project despite previously being listed as an executive producer.
During a conversation with Thunderbolts star David Harbour for Interview Magazine, Johansson was asked whether she had seen the film yet.
She replied, “No,” and when Harbour jokingly congratulated her on her producer credit, she responded, “I asked to have my credit removed because I wasn’t involved.”
Harbour teased that she must have disliked the movie, to which Johansson replied, “No, you just want that to be the case.”
She then emphasized that she’s “proud” of the cast, distancing herself from any negative speculation while maintaining support for the team involved.
Johansson, who played Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, has previously stated that she has no plans to reprise her role as an actor.
However, she hasn’t ruled out working behind the scenes with Marvel. Speaking about her interest in directing or producing more MCU projects, she said:
“Even producing Black Widow and helping shape the story between Natasha and Yelena…
I believe there’s a way to explore human connection, family, and disappointment—even in these larger-than-life worlds. It would be fun to do something like that again.”
Reflecting on her time in the franchise, Johansson admitted that while some projects allowed her character to flourish—like Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where she had strong chemistry with Chris Evans—other films were so plot-heavy and crowded with characters that she sometimes felt like a narrative tool rather than a fully realized character.
As the MCU moves forward, the last major entry in Phase 5, Ironheart, is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 24 in the US and June 25 in the UK. That will pave the way for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which will launch Marvel’s Phase 6 on the big screen.
