FG Declares 3-Day Prayer for National Food Security

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has declared a three-day nationwide prayer and fasting programme to seek divine intervention for protection and food stability in Nigeria.
In an internal circular dated June 11, 2025, and signed by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., all staff — including directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, and value chain desk officers — were instructed to participate in the spiritual exercise.

Themed “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development,” the initiative is aimed at seeking God’s guidance to support the federal government’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s food systems and address growing agricultural challenges.
The prayer and fasting sessions are scheduled to take place at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja on three consecutive Mondays — June 16, 23, and 30, 2025.

All staff have been directed to attend the gatherings while observing a fast.
A portion of the circular reads:
“This is to invite all staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to a solemn prayer session for God’s guidance and success in supporting the government’s efforts to achieve food security. Please kindly come fasting on Mondays 16th, 23rd and 30th June, 2025.”
The ministry’s move comes amid escalating concerns over food shortages, inflation, and insecurity affecting farming communities nationwide.
