Outrage as Ganduje, APC North-East Chair Endorse Tinubu Without Shettima

Tension flared at a high-level All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe State on Sunday after a controversial endorsement by North-East National Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, triggered outrage among party members.
The gathering—attended by top APC figures including governors, lawmakers, ministers, and the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje—was meant to unify party leaders from the North-East.
However, Salihu sparked a major uproar when he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term without acknowledging Vice President Kashim Shettima, a key political figure from the region.
Salihu’s omission was met with immediate backlash. Delegates erupted in anger, chanting insults and attempting to confront him physically.
The chaos forced security officials to quickly intervene and remove him from the venue to prevent further escalation.
In a bid to restore calm, APC Deputy National Chairman North, Bukar Dalori, addressed the gathering and issued a dual endorsement of both Tinubu and Shettima, attempting to mend the fractured atmosphere.
But the situation worsened when National Chairman Ganduje, during his brief remarks, also failed to mention Shettima while endorsing Tinubu.
His speech further infuriated the crowd, and security operatives were once again forced to step in and escort him from the event.
The meeting ended in disarray, leaving behind unresolved tensions and highlighting internal divisions within the APC’s North-East bloc.
