Pregnant Woman, Husband Escape Death as Tree Crushes Tricycle in Ebonyi
A pregnant woman and her husband had a miraculous escape after a massive mango tree collapsed onto their moving tricycle near Igboji Primary School in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The frightening incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19, 2025, sending shockwaves through the community. Residents, alarmed by the loud crash, rushed to the scene fearing the worst.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as astonishing. “The tree fell squarely on the tricycle and completely crushed it,” one resident said.
“We thought no one could have survived, but to our amazement, the couple emerged without a single scratch. People were crying and praising God—it was truly a miracle.”

The couple had reportedly been heading home when the decades-old mango tree suddenly toppled and landed directly on their vehicle. Though the tricycle was completely mangled, both occupants were unharmed.
The incident has since sparked growing concern among locals about the dangers posed by aging trees, especially those near schools, roads, and residential areas.
Community leaders and residents are urging local authorities to take immediate action to assess and remove potentially hazardous trees to prevent future disasters.

“We can’t wait for lives to be lost before doing the right thing,” another resident warned. “This was a close call. The next one might not be so lucky.”
