Armed men suspected to be rustlers have killed a herder and taken away an unspecified number of cattle in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Zagazola Makama in a post on his X handle, sources said the incident occurred during the weekend at night around Jewu bush near Jakana town.
The victim, Mohammed Audu, 31 years old was attacked by unknown gunmen while fending for his livestock.
He reportedly sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to the General Hospital in Jakana, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
His brother, Sanda Audu, on Sunday informed the police of the cold blooded murder on Sunday.
The assailants were said to have fled with a large number of cattle to an unknown destination.
Following the attack, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, Police, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters were deployed to the area.
The victim’s corpse was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
