Benue: Stop creating committees, take action now -Youth group urges President Tinubu

A Benue youth group, Consolidated Benue Action Youths, CBAY, has tasked President,Bola Tinubu to proffer effective solution to the spiraling insecurity and violent killing of innocent people in Benue State rather than resorting to condemnations and convening of Town Hall meetings.

The group made the demand in a statement on Monday while reacting to the president’s visit to Benue State following the massacre of over 200 people in Yelellewata community.

CBAY in its statement, jointly signed by its National coordinator, Joshua Amokahaa and Secretary-General, Emmanuel Abba, said the actions of the President is not showing any determination to end the killings in Benue State.

The group tasked President Tinubu to work more seriously towards functional and effective measures that will stop the spread of mindless slaughter of innocent Benue people by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

“The Nigerian government must be focused, decisive and constitutional in the fight to combat terrorism.

“Government must protect Nigerians from this unwarranted violence that is spreading like wild fire.

“Perpetrators of mass killing must be charged before courts of competent jurisdiction and prosecuted.

” We are sick and tired of hearing sermons from the presidency each time that bloody pogrom takes place.”

The group also challenged President Tinubu to step up radical and measures to stamp out the regime of impunity which, it said, is the root cause of the growing spate of terrorism and violent killings of inncoent Benue people by Fulani herdsmen.

CBAY noted that solution to the spiraling insecurity and the scale of violent crimes can be achieved through effective mobilisation of the military formations in the state.

The group urged President Tinubu to compel the military commanders in Benue to join the coordinated war against terrorism by competently mobilizing their men and resources to end the mindless massacres in the state.
