Orezi reacts to viral US officials video demanding justice for late Deborah Samuel

Nigerian singer, Orezi has expressed outrage over the government’s continued silence on the brutal murder of Deborah Samuel, a student killed in Sokoto in 2022 for alleged blasphemy.

Taking to his Instagram story, Orezi shared a video of US officials during a congressional hearing, where they questioned why Nigeria has not been listed as a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing the Deborah Samuel case as an example.

The officials highlighted that the young student was tragically set ablaze for practicing Christianity, yet no meaningful action has been taken to address the crime.

Reacting to the video, the singer condemned the government’s inaction and apparent disregard for human life, urging authorities to take the protection of citizens seriously.

He said:

“This happened and till today, the Nigerian government did nothing about it. No one, absolutely no one was held accountable. Young Deborah was burned to death, recorded, and published all over the internet. Truth is, the Nigerian government needs to take the life of its citizens seriously. The recklessness needs to stop.”

Orezi’s post quickly went viral, reigniting conversations about religious intolerance, government negligence, and justice in Nigeria amid Donald Trump invasion threat.

His statement underscores the urgent need for authorities to protect citizens, uphold accountability, and ensure that such heinous crimes do not go unpunished.

The singer’s intervention has once again highlighted the growing demand for the Nigerian government to act decisively against violence and safeguard human lives.
