Deputy Senate President reacts, tells Trump to apologize, says The route hes taken is not the best

AdminBy AdminNovember 8, 2025Updated:November 8, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

A video of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin tackling U.S. President Donald Trump over his threats toward Nigeria has gone viral, sparking widespread discussion on social media.

Jibrin Demands Apology

In the footage, Jibrin condemned Trump’s statements as unacceptable and demanded an apology on behalf of Nigerians.

“For the President of the United States to come and say, ‘You are doing this, we are going to attack you…’ is quite unacceptable. We feel that he should retract that statement and apologise to Nigerians,” he said.

Nigeria Will Not Be Intimidated

According to the Deputy Senate President, Nigeria would not bow to external pressure.

He urged the United States to respect international law and pursue grievances through lawful and diplomatic channels rather than threats of military action.

“Whatever you feel about our country, follow the legal route. Go to the United Nations,” Jibrin stated.

Criticism of Trump’s Approach

Mr. Jibrin expressed disbelief at Trump’s plan, saying, “I still can’t believe that kind of statement will come from the President of the United States of America. We are not scared of Trump. We will tell him the truth. The route you have taken is not the best route to take.”

Background: Trump Labels Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern’

Trump recently described Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” citing an alleged “existential threat” to Christians in the country.

He claimed that thousands of Christians were being killed and urged U.S. lawmakers to investigate the situation immediately.

Trump suggested that the U.S. could halt all aid to Nigeria and prepare the Department of War for potential intervention.
