Tinubu accused of paying alleged ₦250 billion to lure opposition governors, senators to APC

AdminBy AdminNovember 8, 2025Updated:November 8, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has been accused of allegedly offering huge financial incentives to opposition governors and lawmakers to dump their parties and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a report obtained by SaharaReporters, sources inside the Presidency revealed that the wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC is being driven by massive cash packages coordinated directly from Aso Rock and supervised by senior officials close to President Tinubu.

The sources alleged that each state governor who recently joined the APC received a total of ₦250 billion as an inducement package.

One insider told SaharaReporters that the money was released in two stages, N100 billion upfront as a “commitment grant” and the remaining ₦150 billion after the official defection ceremony.

The report also claimed that senators who defect are paid N1 billion each, while members of the House of Representatives allegedly get ₦500 million each.

In recent weeks, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have all left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling APC.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the APC leadership has released an official statement addressing these allegations.

The allegations have sparked massive debate online as Nigerians question the credibility of the ongoing defections and the influence of money in the country’s political system.
