Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has praised Samuel Chukwueze for his game-changing contribution in Fulham’s 1-0 win over Sunderland at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The Nigerian winger delivered a pinpoint cross for Raúl Jiménez’s late winner, securing a vital three points for Marco Silva’s side and showcasing the quality Fulham hoped to unlock when they secured him on loan from AC Milan.
Impact off the bench
Introduced in the 64th minute, Chukwueze immediately injected urgency down the right flank.
His decisive moment came late on when he picked up possession, assessed the defensive line, and curled a perfectly weighted ball into the box for Jiménez to finish.
Sherwood, speaking on Sky Sports, described the assist as a product of “exceptional vision and technique,” adding that the winger “curled the ball beautifully in behind the defence.”
Momentum building for the Nigerian winger
Despite a slow adaptation period, the 26-year-old is beginning to find form in the Premier League.
He now has two assists in seven appearances, just 132 minutes of action played, without a league start to his name.
Chukwueze will aim to leverage this performance as he pushes for a regular place in Silva’s starting XI.
