Insider explains reason why Mikel Arteta has called an emergency meeting

AdminBy AdminNovember 23, 2025Updated:November 23, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

The Premier League title race took a dramatic twist this weekend as both Liverpool and Manchester City suffered shock defeats, opening the door for Arsenal to seize control, provided they can make the most of it when they face Tottenham on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta, fully aware of the magnitude of the moment, has reportedly called an urgent 10am meeting with his management team on Sunday morning, a trusted source on X has revealed.

The message is simple: no slip-ups.

Both Liverpool and Man City slipped on Saturday

With both of their closest title rivals faltering, Arsenal have a golden opportunity to move clear at the top of the table, but Arteta is demanding absolute focus and composure from his players.

Liverpool’s crisis deepened on Saturday with a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, a result that stunned Anfield and left the champions looking out of ideas.

Goals from Murillo, Nicolò Savona, and Morgan Gibbs-White compounded the Reds’ misery as Arne Slot’s side suffered their sixth league defeat in seven games.

It was a performance marked by defensive frailty and a lack of attacking spark, issues that have plagued Liverpool this season.

Elsewhere, Manchester City’s title push also stuttered as they were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Harvey Barnes was the hero for the Magpies, scoring twice in a sensational performance that exposed City’s growing vulnerability away from home.

Pep Guardiola’s men, who had dominated possession, were undone by Newcastle’s counter-attacking precision and relentless energy, a reminder that even the league’s strongest sides can be punished for complacency.

Mikel Arteta wants no slip ups now

For Arsenal, these results have transformed Sunday’s North London Derby into a pivotal moment in their campaign.

A win over Spurs would not only strengthen their grip on first place but also send a powerful message about their title credentials.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are chasing a top-four spot and will arrive at the Emirates desperate to spoil the party.

Victory on Sunday could see Arsenal go six points clear at the top ahead of Chelsea, changing the complexion of the title race entirely.
