Victor Osimhen explains how defeats affect his game

AdminBy AdminDecember 6, 2025Updated:December 7, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has offered fans a look into his mentality, explaining how deeply defeats affect him long after the final whistle.

The Nigerian forward admitted that losses linger with him, often costing him sleep and intensifying his drive on the pitch.

In a conversation with the Smallie YouTube channel, Osimhen broke down his competitive nature, his emotional response to losing, and the mindset that fuels his hunger for success.

How losing impacts him emotionally]

“Losing, to be honest, is very cruel. It doesn’t matter if it’s street football, a real match, the World Cup, or the Africa Cup of Nations

Even in life. People who live “with me know that if I lose a match, it’s very hard for me to sleep,” he said.

Although he acknowledges that defeat is unavoidable in football, Osimhen admitted that accepting it emotionally remains one of his biggest struggles.

“Of course, it’s normal, it’s part of the game, and I have to accept it. But if I could, I would want to win every single match.”

A different spirit on the pitch

Osimhen also explained that his desire to win unleashes a stronger, more aggressive version of himself during matches.

“When I’m on the pitch, I become a completely different beast.”

Driving Galatasaray’s push for the title

The 26-year-old striker’s influence on Galatasaray continues to be significant. With five goals in 11 Turkish Super League games this season, Osimhen remains central to the club’s title ambitions.

His impact was evident once again in their hard-fought 3-2 win over Samsunspor on Friday, a result that strengthened Galatasaray’s position at the top of the table.
