Pastor Kesiena Esiri Slams Matthew Ashimolowo for Officiating Chris Okafor’s Wedding

Pastor Kesiena Esiri has publicly criticised Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo for officiating the wedding of Pastor Chris Okafor and his wife.
In a strongly worded message that has been widely shared online, Esiri questioned how a senior Christian leader could preside over the wedding of a man he alleged had divorced his wife and left her to care for four children. He described the decision as a troubling departure from Christian principles.
Esiri claimed that allegations surrounding Pastor Okafor’s lifestyle before the wedding were widely known but were seemingly ignored by influential church figures who publicly supported the ceremony.
Expressing disappointment, Esiri said it was concerning that someone regarded as a “father of faith” would endorse the wedding without addressing its moral implications. He warned that such actions risk sending the wrong message to congregants who look to church leaders for moral direction.
According to Esiri, compromising biblical standards for influence or public image undermines the church’s moral authority and leaves believers confused about core Christian values.
The criticism comes amid renewed scrutiny of Pastor Okafor following allegations by actress Doris Ogala, who accused him of marital betrayal after he shared pre-wedding photos online.
The situation reportedly escalated to Ogala’s arrest before she was later released following the intervention of activist VeryDarkMan and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.
The incident has reignited debate within Christian communities and on social media over whether influence and status are increasingly taking precedence over spiritual integrity among senior clergy in contemporary Christianity.
