Arsenal continuing to track 'new Pedri' – the 11 G/A star who could complete Arteta's project

Arsenal are continuing to track a top attacking midfielder signing in the form of Villarreal’s rising Spanish star Alberto Moleiro.

The 22-year-old, who can play on the left or centrally, has an impressive return of eight goals and three assists in 19 La Liga games so far this season.

Moleiro has drawn comparisons with Barcelona’s midfield maestro Pedri, and it seems inevitable that he’ll earn himself a big move before too long.

Arsenal have liked Moleiro for some time now, and there’s the growing feeling in the industry that they’ll make him a top target for summer 2026.

Can Alberto Moleiro provide the finishing touch to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal project?

Arsenal look like they could finally be on the brink of greatness, with Arteta’s side sitting seven points clear at the top of the Premier League whilst also topping the Champions League league phase table after seven wins out of seven.

Fans who might like to make the most of William Hill promo codes and similar will surely be keeping an eye on the Gunners and their odds of winning perhaps as many as three trophies this season, with the club also already having one foot in the Carabao Cup final.

There’s surely a big opportunity ahead for Arsenal, but at the same time there are perhaps still one or two concerns about if this current squad quite has what it takes to dominate domestically and in Europe.

Arsenal need Alberto Moleiro to add spark to their attack

Throughout this season, we’ve seen Arteta rotate and try a whole host of different attacking midfield players, without any of them really establishing themselves as a consistent enough source of goals and assists.

Summer signing Eberechi Eze was meant to add that X-factor to the AFC attack, but he’s increasingly found himself out of favour after a slow start in north London.

Elsewhere, we’ve seen flashes of brilliance from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but without much consistency, while Noni Madueke has also been a little underwhelming, perhaps unsurprisingly so as he was only ever likely to be an understudy to Bukayo Saka.

Moleiro looks like he could be a hugely important addition to give Arteta that same kind of threat on the left-hand side as Saka has given the team on the right.

The Spaniard surely won’t come cheap as he only just joined Villarreal last summer, but his fast start there surely means it’s going to be tough to keep hold of him for very long.

If there’s a player out there with the kind of profile Arsenal are crying out for to take that next step, it’s Moleiro.
