Zach Galifianakis Goes Green in New Netflix Series This is a Gardening Show: What is a Tomato?

AdminBy AdminMarch 18, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

“If I were to offer a remedy to the human condition, it would be gardening,” so says Zach Galifianakis in a teaser for his new Netflix series. “And acid.”

He may be joking about the last part (or maybe not?) but the veteran star gets (kinda) serious as he digs up the reason for taking a closer look at his green thumb in This is a Gardening Show. “The way we get food is so perverse right now, I think it’s worth talking about it,” he says. Galifianakis will do just that by talking, digging, harvesting, picking and inquiring about what really goes down in the garden across the six episode series. “What is a tomato?” he asks to someone more knowledgeable on the subject.

Per Netflix’s official description, This is a Gardening Show is described as a “refreshing and whimsical take” on gardening by the Between Two Ferns co-creator. “Rather than positioning himself as an expert, Galifianakis approaches the subject with curiosity and self-effacing humor, with the goal of learning alongside his audience and giving viewers valuable, accessible, and educational tools to use in their own gardens.”

Directed by Brook Linder and produced by Chris Kim, the series hails from RadicalMedia in association with Galifianakis’ Billios Productions. Executive producers are Galifianakis and RadicalMedia’s Frank Scherma and Jon Kamen.

Galifianakis is represented by Brillstein Entertainment Partners, UTA and Yorn Levine. He next stars in AMC’s The Audacity. The Hangover star’s other recent credits include Bob’s Burgers, Only Murders in the Building, Ron’s Gone Wrong and Baskets. He co-created the zany interview show Between Two Ferns that found him asking questions of A-listers like Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Charlize Theron, Bradley Cooper, Jerry Seinfeld, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Stewart and more while positioned between two ferns.

See the trailer and stills below. In a fitting move, Netflix will drop the series on Earth Day, April 22.
