A man has sparked conversations online after reflecting on his nine-year marriage, admitting that he and his wife experienced several difficult moments before learning to navigate their relationship more maturely.
The man revealed that in the early years of his marriage, he once refused to eat his wife’s meals for more than a week following a disagreement, despite still providing money for food.
He also recalled another period when both of them stopped speaking to each other for nearly three weeks.
He, however, said those experiences are now behind them, adding that both partners have grown over the years and continue to enjoy their marriage while learning from each other.
Man reflects on growth in marriage
Sharing his experience, the man said, “As a married man, I once rejected my wife’s food over a quarrel for over a week even though I was still providing the money for it. There was another time, close to three weeks, where I didn’t speak to her and she didn’t speak to me. Today I’ve outgrown all those habits. At some point i said i no do again. But today we are 9 years still learning and enjoying it.”
He also argued that many people speak confidently about marriage until they experience it themselves, noting that no relationship is without challenges.

Continuing his reflection, the man added, “A lot of you talk like pros until you get married and your true nature comes out. Marriage is just two imperfect people looking to build something. Blocking and unblocking your husband is just one way people vent anger that doesn’t mean she isn’t interested again one day she’ll outgrow it. On Twitter people behave as if dem no dey sh!t. You don’t know what you can do until you get married. No one gives marital advice more than a man or woman who hasn’t tested marriage. I can’t do this I can’t do that. If you have never quarreled with your wife or husband to the point of leaving, the marriage then you haven’t truly started.”
