Iyabo Ojo has opened up about why she ensured her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, played a visible role during their daughter Priscilla Ojo‘s wedding, saying she refused to let their past differences affect their children’s lives.

Speaking during an appearance, the Nollywood actress explained that she intentionally set aside personal grievances to ensure her daughter enjoyed the support of both parents on one of the biggest days of her life.

Iyabo, who married Ademidun Ojo in 1999 before their marriage ended in 2001, said her own family background influenced the decision, adding that she was determined to break unhealthy generational patterns for her children.

Iyabo Ojo shares reason for involving ex-husband

Responding to questions about the wedding, the actress said, “I don’t know, there’s something called ancestral curses. And we Africans believe in it. Christians also. I believe that if you do not want something to continue, you have to be able to break it. So I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened, because my dad and my mum were also not together, every mistake they had made that I have made, my children will not make it”

She also stressed that her former husband remained their daughter’s father and deserved to be part of the milestone despite the end of their marriage.

The actress said, “Her father is not dead. He’s alive. So why can’t he be there? He didn’t wrong her. Me and him fell out. It has nothing to do with her”

Wedding continues to spark conversations

Priscilla Ojo married Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in a lavish series of wedding ceremonies held in Nigeria and Tanzania in 2025, attracting celebrities and dignitaries from across Africa.

Since then, the couple have welcomed their first child, a son named Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, while Priscilla has continued sharing updates about motherhood and her postpartum journey on social media.

Iyabo Ojo’s latest comments have generated fresh discussions online, with many social media users praising her decision to prioritise her daughter’s happiness and maintain a healthy co-parenting relationship despite the breakdown of her marriage.
