Peter Obihas weighed in on recent comments by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, regarding President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity, saying he agrees that the President has done his best.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Obi said he respected Adeboye’s position and believed the cleric was sincere in his assessment.

However, he argued that while Tinubu may have tried his best, Nigerians must determine whether those efforts have produced the desired results.

Obi added that leadership should ultimately be judged by outcomes, insisting that the country’s current challenges raise questions about capacity.

Obi responds to Adeboye’s remarks

Peter Obi said, “Somebody asked me yesterday, they said that Pastor Adeboye said Tinubu has tried his best and he’s not happy. And I said, no, Pastor Adeboye remains a very revered, respected religious father, whom I believe in his genuineness and goodness. And what he said was correct. He said he has tried his best. He’s trying his best. That’s it. It’s the correct answer. The question to ask is: Is his best good enough? Where we find ourselves today, that leads to the issue of capacity.”

During the interview, Obi also urged Nigerians to evaluate his previous performance in public office alongside the ideas he is presenting ahead of the next presidential election, maintaining that his record should speak for itself.

Debate over leadership continues

Obi’s comments have generated fresh political discussions on social media, with supporters and critics debating whether the current administration’s efforts are sufficient to address the country’s security and economic challenges.

His remarks add to the growing national conversation about governance and leadership as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
