ASPSF receives MLK Acts of Kindness Dedication to Service Award

Arkansas Single Mother or father Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) was honored Jan. 28 on the Ozan-Inghram Iron Mountain Neighborhood Improvement Company’s twentieth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Celebration Gala at Texarkana Faculty.

The company chosen the nonprofit for the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Acts of Kindness Dedication to Service Award based mostly on ASPSF’s moral conduct, integrity, and civic and social duty to the area people.

“I thanks for this type award, on your six years of economic assist and partnership, and for the various members of your group who share their time and abilities to complement our program for single dad and mom, together with Tenequa Martin, Lee Williams, Marvin Warren, Ashley Childs, and Dr. Robert Jones,” stated ASPSF Board Vice President Sharmane Andrews of Simmons Financial institution, who accepted the award on behalf of the group.

Since 2019, ASPSF Program Supervisor Sandra Warren and her volunteers have awarded about 250 scholarships to low-income single dad and mom in Miller and Bowie counties and close by areas.

Over the previous decade, about 1,300 single dad and mom have benefited from ASPSF’s providers, together with greater than $1.1 million in monetary help. With new levels and certifications, these single dad and mom begin skilled careers that deliver their whole household out of poverty.
