Protesters demand Matawalle’s sack over Zamfara’s worsening insecurity

Tons of of disgruntled girls and youths from Zamfara State, on Tuesday, took their protest to the headquarters of the Division of Safety Providers in Abuja, over heightened insecurity within the state.

The aggrieved individuals blamed the immediate-past governor of the state and now Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for the heightened actions of bandits, which they claimed was a fallout of his alleged romance with them throughout his administration.

The demonstrators, who arrived in about 12 lengthy buses at 10.15 am, have been restricted from accessing the premises of the safety company.

The protest comes one month after the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress known as on the Federal Authorities to declare a state of emergency within the state, to permit the battle towards banditry to succeed.

Waving placards which learn: ‘We’re dying’ and ‘DSS, save us from bandits,’ the protesters urged the DSS Director Common, Adeola Ajayi, to intervene.

Addressing journalists, the chief of the demonstrators, Mallam Musa Mahmud, expressed disappointment that President Bola Tinubu had not sacked Matawalle as minister, regardless of the proof introduced by Governor Dauda Lawal.
