Crystal Palace Charged by FA Over Marinakis Gun Banner Incident

The Soccer Affiliation has charged Crystal Palace with misconduct after followers displayed a banner displaying Nottingham Forest proprietor Evangelos Marinakis pointing a gun at midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White’s head.

The banner — unveiled through the 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park in August — learn: “Mr Marinakis will not be concerned in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption.” Marinakis has repeatedly denied any such allegations.

Based on the FA, Palace failed to make sure supporters didn’t have interaction in “improper, offensive, abusive, or provocative” conduct. Although the banner wasn’t explicitly cited within the cost, FA guidelines strictly prohibit defamatory, political, or offensive messaging inside stadiums.

Gibbs-White, who almost left Forest in the summertime amid curiosity from Tottenham, later signed a brand new contract and appeared alongside Marinakis in an interview discussing his resolution to remain.

The August 24 fixture was additionally notable as Palace’s first assembly with Forest since being relegated from the Europa League to the Convention League after breaching UEFA’s multi-club possession rules — a call that handed Forest their place within the competitors.
