Falconets thrash Benin to maintain strong start at WAFU B U-20 tournament

AdminBy AdminNovember 10, 2025Updated:November 10, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

The Falconets, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, extended their unbeaten run at the ongoing 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup after overpowering Benin Republic 3-0 on Sunday at the Stade Adjanhou.

Striker Ramotalahi Kareem was the star of the match once again, scoring twice as Nigeria cruised to another emphatic victory in their title defence campaign.

The Falconets set the tone early with purposeful play that quickly unsettled their opponents.

In the 15th minute, Kareem converted a well-crafted move, firing past the Beninese goalkeeper to hand Nigeria the lead.

Benin’s Amazones showed flashes of energy in front of their home fans but struggled to contain the Falconets’ pace and creativity in attack.

By the half-hour mark, Nigeria had taken firm control of possession, dictating play from midfield and keeping Benin pinned deep in their own half.

Falconets too ruthless for Benin’s defence

Kareem struck again in the 59th minute, finishing coolly after a defensive lapse from the hosts to make it 2–0.

As the match entered stoppage time, substitute Precious Oscar added a late third, completing a quick counter-attack to seal a comfortable victory for Nigeria.

Champions poised for another title triumph

With back-to-back wins, following their 3–1 victory over Ghana in the opener, the Falconets now sit top of the group with six points and a superior goal difference.

Their performances have firmly positioned them as favourites to lift the WAFU B crown for a second consecutive year.
