Cowboys Pay Tribute to Kneeland Before Defeating Raiders
The Dallas Cowboys paid tribute to Marshawn Kneeland before their 33–16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kneeland, 24, was found dead earlier this month after fleeing on foot from a car crash during a police pursuit. According to Frisco Police in Texas, the defensive lineman is believed to have taken his own life.
Following their bye week, the Monday Night Football matchup against the Raiders marked the Cowboys’ first game since his passing.
Both teams honoured Kneeland before kickoff. Players from the Cowboys and Raiders wore warm-up shirts featuring his image, while Raiders jerseys displayed a suicide-prevention hotline number. In the Cowboys’ locker room, a space was prepared for Kneeland, complete with his No. 94 jersey.
Kneeland, a second-round pick in the 2024 draft, made 18 appearances for Dallas, including four starts.
Quarterback Dak Prescott — whose brother Jace died by suicide in 2020 — wore a “One Love” wristband, a phrase Kneeland often used. Prescott said the game provided a sense of healing.
“There’s no better peace than being on this field,” Prescott said.
“We love Marshawn and will keep shining a light for him.”
Prescott delivered four touchdown passes in the victory, connecting with CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson, George Pickens and later Ryan Flournoy as Dallas jumped to a commanding 24–6 lead.
The Cowboys remain behind the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East, while the Raiders sit at the bottom of the AFC West.
