Army rescue 12 kidnap victims in pre-dawn operation in Borno

AdminBy AdminDecember 2, 2025Updated:December 2, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

In a bold pre-dawn operation, troops of Operation HADIN KAI rescued 12 individuals, including seven women and five children, from Boko Haram captivity in the Mandara Mountains.

The victims had been abducted on 14 November along the Gwoza-Limankara road while in transit.

The clearance mission, conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY IV and Diligent Search, was led by the 26 Task Force Brigade with support from Hybrid Forces, Hunters, and local vigilantes.

Heavy troop fire forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee.

Amid the chaos, the terrified victims scattered into surrounding bushes, exhausted and disoriented after days in captivity.

By 8:45 a.m., troops had safely recovered all victims, ensuring no one was left behind.

“The military high command has praised the bravery, speed, and professionalism of the troops, acknowledging the vital contributions of security stakeholders and local informants whose timely intelligence made the rescue possible,” a spokesperson said.

Among those rescued were Fadi Musa, Jummai Manga, Hamsatu Musa, Jummai Ali, Inna Amadu, Falmata Musa, Hadiza Hamman, and five children.

Troops evacuated them to the brigade field ambulance for urgent medical care, treating injuries, blisters, and effects of beatings.

They were later handed over to the Gwoza Local Government Area representative for safe reunification with their families.

Security forces remain on alert, pursuing ISWAP remnants across southern Borno to prevent further atrocities.

The operation highlights the importance of local intelligence and coordinated military action in safeguarding civilians.

Authorities emphasised that continued vigilance and collaboration with communities are key to dismantling insurgent networks.

Troops remain committed to ensuring lasting peace and security in the region.
