Man tests gas explosion myth with two phones on leaking gas burners

AdminBy AdminDecember 5, 2025Updated:December 5, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

A viral video has sparked widespread shock after a man deliberately exposed himself to danger while attempting to demonstrate that answering a phone call near cooking gas cannot trigger an explosion.

The man, determined to “prove a point,” conducted the risky experiment inside a kitchen with gas leaking openly.

A dangerous demonstration

In the video, the man used two phones—one for a regular phone call and the other for a WhatsApp call.

He placed both devices directly on active gas burners (without flames) while gas continued to escape.

He even set the phones on top of the gas cylinder to show that neither placement caused any instant combustion.

Safety experts have repeatedly stated that mobile phones do not emit enough spark energy to ignite cooking gas. This has been confirmed in multiple scientific tests, including MythBusters.

However, they warn that what the man did was extremely dangerous, as free-flowing gas can ignite from static electricity, light switches, electronics, or even friction—potentially causing severe fire, explosion, injury, or death.

Social media reactions

The risky act triggered a mix of fear, humour, and disbelief online:

@Dhavidtips: “See how I dey watch am, my heart dey beat. I dey expect to hear boom.”

@Only1dollyp: “My papa no go send this one for my WhatsApp oo.”

@JanetNkeiru: “Risking your whole future just to win an argument nobody even asked you to join.”

@RashwalRashwal: “This guy has promised himself not to reach 25th December.”

The clip has reignited discussions about dangerous social media stunts and the importance of proper safety awareness around cooking gas.

Man risks his life just to prove that answering a phone call beside cooking gas won’t cause an explosion. Wait for it.
