Boston Blue, Sheriff Country Renewed for Second Seasons on CBS

AdminBy AdminDecember 3, 2025Updated:December 6, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

CBS has placed its first two renewal orders of the 2025-26 season, picking up its rookie dramas Boston Blue and Sheriff Country.

The network has ordered second seasons of the two shows for 2026-27. Both hail from CBS Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Television and are spinoffs of other CBS series (Blue Bloods and Fire Country). Boston Blue and Sheriff Country are also the two most watched new series of the fall, based on Nielsen’s seven-day multiplatform ratings.

“Two new shows on Friday nighthave become instant hits, with audiences quickly embracing Boston BlueandSheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach. “These early renewals reflect the power of character-driven storytelling, compelling narratives and the exceptional talent on both sides of the camera that make these series truly stand out.”

Boston Blue and Sheriff Country join veteran series FBI and Ghosts — both of which are in the midst of multi-season orders that take them through the 2026-27 season —on CBS’ roster for next season.

Sheriff Country —which CBS ordered to series almost a year and a half before its October premiere — stars Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox, the sheriff of the fictional Northern California town of Edgewater. Matt Lauria, W. Earl Brown, Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver also star.

The show is averaging 7.6 million cross-platform viewers over seven days, according to Nielsen ratings, consistently winning its 8 p.m. Friday timeslot (and outdrawing its parent show, Fire Country).

Fire Country creators Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater executive produce Sheriff Country with Matt Lopez and Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed for Jerry Bruckheimer Television.

Boston Blue follows Donnie Wahlberg’s Blue Bloods character, Danny Reagan, to a new job on the Boston police force. Sonequa Martin-Green plays as Danny’s new partner, Lena Silver; the cast also features Gloria Reuben, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Mika Amonsen and Ernie Hudson.

Showrunners Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis executive produce with Wahlberg and Jerry Bruckheimer TV’s Bruckheimer and Reed.
