Supermodel Heidi Klum, comedian Kevin Hart and actor Danny Ramirez have been hosting the draw at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.

But Infantino also headed to the stage before the nations discovered their fate.

And BBC commentator Pearce, 65, was shocked by one of the Fifa president’s comments.

Infantino said: “Let me try something that probably never happened. Nobody knows about that, so they will kill me when I go out of here.”

Pearce, on BBC’s television coverage, could then be heard exclaiming: “Goodness.”

Infantino continued: “Let’s do something that I think the Kennedy Center has never, ever seen.

“Are there Americans in the room? Make some noise! Are there Canadians in the room? Are there Mexicans in the room?

“There are people from 200 different countries as well, in this room. So I would like, with your collaboration, to show people all over the world what they can expect when they come to North America next summer.”

Infantino, 55, proceeded to ask those at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to make noise when their nation was named.

He also made headlines during the draw when he told host Hart to “be careful” when there were fears he was about to reveal top-secret details about plans for a half-time show at the World Cup Final.

During his time on stage, Infantino presented United States President Donald Trump with the inaugural Peace Prize.

England booked their place in the World Cup after winning each of their qualification matches under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
