ON a mission to get rid of wet windows for good, a savvy woman has tested three cheap condensation tricks.
Luckily for those struggling to fight off condensation, Ash O’Buachalla, a content creator from Ireland, has found a hack that works “brilliantly.”
And if your purse is feeling tighter than ever before, fear not, as this top tip is super affordable – and you probably already have the secret in your kitchen.
Posting on social media, Ash, a mother who “loves doable DIY, home decor and hacks” and shares videos online under the username ‘Doing up my home’, got candid on her recent condensation battle.
She said: “With the cold weather comes the likelihood of condensation on the inside of your windows – it’s not a good thing to have in your home as it can turn to mould, so I searched for hacks to fix this problem.”
Ash confirmed that she first tried the bowl of salt trick, which she thought was just 20% effective.

Following this, she gave the sodium bicarbonate hack a try, which she described as 80% effective.
But the final hack, which Ash said “worked 100%” on her windows involved using a 62p kitchen staple – washing-up liquid.
The cleaning guru explained: “I tried three different hacks over four days and the winner was this – washing-up liquid on a clean, dry microfiber cloth.”
Ash demonstrated the straightforward tip and while her windows were originally soaking wet, just seconds later, there was no condensation in sight.
She advised: “Wipe it on the entire pane and frames – wipe it a few times so that there’s no film left on the windows and it worked absolutely brilliant.”
And not only did this trick work to banish condensation on Ash’s bedroom windows, but she used it in her bathroom too.
Thrilled with the cheap and effective trick, Ash continued: “It also led to another hack which was the mirror in my bathroom – I decided to try the same product on my mirror, one of the kids had a shower, so there was condensation on the glass and on the window, and the mirror stayed clear.”
Ash’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @doingupmyhome, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and racked up 1.4 million views.
What is condensation?
Condensation iswater droplets that form on a window when moist air comes into contact with a cold surface.
Condensation occurs when:

Warmer air can hold more moisture than cooler air.When moist air touches a cold surface, like a window, the water vapour in the air turns into liquid water droplets.
Windows are colder than walls
Windows are often colder than insulated walls, so condensation is more likely to occur on them.
Windows are poorly insulated
Poorly insulated windows can lead to condensation, especially if they are made of aluminium, which conducts heat quickly. If left untreated, it can lead to mould and other serious problems.
