Gone to pot
TRUST in our public institutions is at an all-time low.
In our broken State services, it feels like no one ever does their job properly.

When failures are revealed, bosses routinely refuse to take responsibility.
Instead of being fired, they are allowed to walk away with a gold-plated civil service pension beyond the wildest dreams of most working people.
This depressing pattern has been repeated AGAIN with disgraced West Midlands police chief Craig Guildford.
He will walk away pushing a wheelbarrow of our cash despite presiding over one of the most blatant police fit-ups in recent years.

West Midlands Police chief’s refusal to go is dragging force into crisis
As chief constable, he covered up violent threats made by Islamist extremists against Maccabi Tel Aviv fans for fear of upsetting local pro-Gaza leaders, and banned the Israeli supporters from the Aston Villa game instead.
His force then made false accusations of hooliganism against the Jewish fans to justify his decision — even including “evidence” from a non-existent match.
Unquestionably, Guildford should have been sacked – but was spared by the Corbynista Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster, who called his decision “fair”.
Fair to the Jewish fans smeared?
Fair to Birmingham taxpayers enduring yet more failure to tackle sectarian politics?
Arguably, Guildford should now be facing misconduct proceedings.
Instead, like so many useless public servants in the past, he has got off scot-free and with his wallet bulging.
Women first
WHAT a victory for the Darlington hospital nurses hounded by NHS bosses for complaining about sharing a changing room with a biological male trans colleague.
These women showed extraordinary courage in the face of threats that they could lose their jobs.
Meanwhile, we welcome the Government’s plan to use biological sex to establish fairness over gender pay.
Ministers must now get on with issuing official guidance on safe spaces.
Until they do so, women will continue to feel less protected than they should.
Thug’s lies
FAR from ever showing genuine remorse, Jake Fahri has always revelled in his killing of innocent Jimmy Mizen.
Blocking his move to an open prison for repeated dishonesty was the only sensible decision.
Fahri has already once been recalled to prison over drill rap videos glorifying the murder.
He has no understanding of the pain he has caused Jimmy’s family and even dragged in an unsuspecting Marcus Rashford with his lies.
He must stay behind bars until he grasps the gravity of his appalling crime.
