All the clues in chilling new Nancy Guthrie videos that could crack the case

CHILLING clues in the new Nancy Guthrie surveillance videos that could finally lead cops to a suspect are now being revealed.

The U.S. Sun spoke with top security expert Brian Fitzgibbons with USPA Nationwide Security, who broke down the crucial details of the newly released surveillance images that will help shape law enforcement’s profile of the suspect or suspects in Savannah Guthrie’s mother’s abduction.

Savannah‘s mother, Nancy, 84, was taken from her home sometime in the early morning hours of February 1 and has been missing since.

Fitzgibbons said the first essential revelation from the footage, which police say shows a “potential subject” of the investigation, is that the person’s approximate body composition is being revealed.

“First and foremost, investigators are going to be able to ascertain height and approximate weight from this.

“They will likely look to enhance the images shown to the public and get better depictions of his eyes, and while this may not be able to identify a suspect, it will help with comparison when one is developed.

MASKED MANIAC

Terrifying vid shows ‘armed suspect’ outside TV host’s missing mum’s home

“He is wearing bulky clothing to hide his body shape and thick rubber gloves, a full face mask – this was not a crime of opportunity and was not done in haste,” he said, adding that this was clearly not a home invasion gone wrong.

What we know about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance…

Fitzgibbons also noted the person’s apparent mustache could be seen in the video from the Today Show anchor’s mother’s home.

The expert also noted the gun that was in his waistband.

PISTOL IN WAISTBAND

Fitzgibbons believes the gun is a mid-sized semi-automatic, “like a nine millimeter, a Glock, a Smith & Wesson,” he believes.

He says you can tell the type of gun by the look of the grip in the handle, “you can see part of the slide,” the expert explained.

Meanwhile, firearms expert Alain Stephens with the Association of Gun Violence Reporters added that while the video gives little to go on, there are some clues with this weapon.

“He is armed with a semi-automatic pistol,” Stephens said, which account for about 70% of guns recovered.

“If he was armed with a rifle, it’d be something the feds could perhaps narrow in on; simple because rifles of all types account for 12% of recoveries.”

But pistols, he said, “are easier to steal, build, dispose of. That creates a huge margin of sourcing, and easy to dump evidence.”

The weapons holster actually offers seemingly more clues.

“He is carrying a universal holster. That hurts us narrowing down firearm type, but it also shows a lack of tradecraft,” the firearms expert added.

INTRUDER’S BEHAVIOR

Meanwhile, security expert Fitzgibbons said that, more interesting, however, was the behavior of the potential subject with the weapon.

“The thing with the weapon that stands out to me, you’re committing a very serious felony, open carrying, an outer waistband holster.”

“You know, knowingly, on video, not caring just displays a tremendous amount of confidence for this.

“I would add that to the body language too, like this guy had zero frantic energy, no panic in his movements, like slow, methodical kind of behavior, no panic in his movements.”

As far as why it took investigators this long, a week and a half since the kidnapping, to obtain these images, Fitzgibbons said there were several hoops law enforcement had to go through to get them.

“The camera was physically removed in this case and on top of that, according to the Pima County Sheriff, Mrs. Guthrie did not have an active subscription to store the video from her system.

“Search warrants would have been obtained and Google would have had to recover these files.”

The expert added, “Bottom line: this is the largest lead in the case that we as the public has seen.”

It confirms that Mrs. Guthrie was targeted and the victim of an armed intrusion and kidnapping. No part of this individual’s body was uncovered.

“The level of detail done to hide his identity and to limit leaving any DNA at the scene leads me to believe that this person was not acting alone.”

He also said he believes this major development will bring in more crucial leads for investigators.

CHILLING SURVEILLANCE

In the chilling surveillance footage released Tuesday, a masked and armed intruder tampered with a security camera outside Nancy Guthrie’s home on the night she was abducted.

The video shows the individual ripping plants from the property and using them to block the camera’s lens just hours before the 84-year-old was taken from her residence.

The intruder was seen wearing a balaclava, a jacket, pants, black gloves, and a backpack.

In the first clip released by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the subject approaches the front door with a hunched posture, raising a gloved hand to obscure the camera.

  • February 2:Search crews pull back. Nancy’s home is considered a crime scene. Savannah releases a statement thanking supporters for their prayers, which her co-hosts read on Today.
  • February 3:A trail of blood is pictured outside Nancy’s home, where there were reportedly signs of forced entry. Nanos admits they have no suspects, no leads, and no videos that could lead to Nancy’s recovery. He and the FBI beg for more tips and accounts.
  • February 4, 8pm:Savannah and her siblings release a heartbreaking video directed at their mother’s abductors asking for proof she is alive and saying they’re willing to work with them to get her back.
  • February 5:FBI offers $50,000 reward for information on the case.
    • 5pm:First ransom demand deadline for millions in Bitcoin passes. Guthrie family releases demand to speak “directly” to the kidnappers, saying, “We want to talk to you and we are waiting for contact.”
  • February 9, 5pm:Second ransom demand deadline, reportedly with “much more serious” conditions.

The individual is then seen stepping off the porch to pull prairie brush from the lawn.

A second video shows the plants being shoved in front of the lens to block the view, while the intruder appears to hold a flashlight in their mouth.

Authorities noted that these images were “previously inaccessible” but were successfully retrieved from “residual data located in backend systems” with the assistance of private sector partners like Google.

In a statement released alongside the footage, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI issued an urgent plea for tips, asking anyone with information contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit tips.fbi.gov.

Shortly after the images were released, Savannah reshared them on her Instagram and provided a brief update.

“We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” she wrote, while also providing the FBI’s contact details for her followers.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated during a press briefing that she had reviewed the surveillance footage with President Donald Trump.

“The president encourages any American across the country with any knowledge of this suspect to please call the FBI,” she said.

“Once again, I will reiterate that the prayers of this entire White House are with Savannah and her family at this time, and we hope that this person is found soon and her mother is brought home safely.”

RANSOM NOTES

Nancy was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off by her son-in-law following a family meal.

Authorities have emphasized that every moment she remains missing is critical, as she has heart conditions that necessitate daily medication.

Various news organizations have reported receiving what appear to be ransom notes demanding millions in exchange for Nancy’s safe return.

Two deadlines mentioned in these messages have already passed, and the grandmother remains missing despite Savannah publicly agreeing to the financial demands.

These dead ends have led Savannah to plead with the public to stay vigilant for any suspicious activity.

“We are at an hour of desperation,” she stated in a video released on Monday.

Law enforcement officials noted they are “not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time.”
