Something felt wrong — Man reveals his experience at Simi mums daycare at age 5

A man has shared a painful childhood experience on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleging abuse at a daycare centre he says was run by the mother of Nigerian singer Simi.

In a lengthy and emotional post, the man said he was only five years old when his mother enrolled him at what he described as “Simi mum’s daycare.”

He claimed that while the caregiver appeared kind and religious in front of parents, a different atmosphere existed behind closed doors.

‘Something Felt Wrong’

According to the post, the man said he did not have the words at the time to explain what he experienced. However, he recalled feeling that “something felt wrong.”

“She was trusted. Simi Smiled in front of parents. Spoke softly. Prayed loudly,” he wrote. “But behind closed doors, that softness disappeared. The room would go quiet in a different way. Heavy. Suffocating.”

He alleged that inappropriate acts occurred at the daycare, stating that no child should endure such experiences. He did not provide specific details but said the memories had remained buried for years.

Living With Buried Trauma

The writer explained that for a long time he doubted his own memories. He said he convinced himself that he was “too young to remember clearly” and wondered if he had misunderstood events.

“But trauma doesn’t forget, even when you try to,” he added, describing how the experience continued to affect him into adulthood.

He said he decided to speak out not for sympathy, but to break what he called a culture of silence.

“Not because I want pity. But because silence protects people like her. And it traps people like us,” he wrote.

A Message to Other Survivors

The post ended with a message directed at others who may have experienced similar situations as children.

“If you were a child and something felt wrong, it probably was,” he stated. “And if you’re still carrying it in silence you’re not alone anymore.”

As of the time of this report, there has been no public response from Simi or her representatives regarding the allegation.
